Faisal Mir is an industrialist and exporter by profession and belongs to a well-known journalistic and political family of Pakistan. His father, Professor Waris Mir, was a renowned academic and intellectual who led a literary and academic struggle against discriminatory laws aimed at preventing Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto from participating in politics during the martial law period of General Zia-ul-Haq.
Mir faced false cases, arrests and imprisonment at a young age during the same era due to his political activism. He was later nominated by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as president of the Peoples Students Federation at Punjab University.
Faisal Mir was also the founding convener of the Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In his electoral career, he contested National Assembly elections from Lahore against Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and also contested the Punjab Assembly elections twice from the same constituency.
Party leaders and workers have welcomed the new appointments, expressing hope that the leadership will strengthen the party’s organizational structure in Lahore and across Punjab.
