The smoggy weather across Punjab, including Lahore, has intensified as the Air Quality Index (AQI) crossed 400 for the third consecutive day. On Saturday, Lahore recorded an AQI of 485, while Faisalabad and Multan approached dangerous levels near 500.

According to the Environment Department, extensive measures are underway to improve Lahore’s AQI. Crackdowns on smoke-emitting vehicles have been intensified, and mobile fuel-testing labs have been introduced for the first time. The department added that 800 electric buses have been launched across Punjab over the past eight months as part of broader anti-smog efforts.
Officials said significant projects are in progress at the provincial level, including the use of anti-smog guns, as the government aims to curb hazardous air pollution.
