Highlights government’s initiatives for combating smog and environmental improvement

LAHORE: In line with the Government of Punjab’s ongoing efforts to combat smog and promote environmental sustainability, Senior Minister Punjab Marriyum Aurangzeb visited the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore and addressed faculty members and students.

During her address, Marriyum Aurangzeb elaborated on the government’s policies, ongoing initiatives, and future strategies aimed at tackling the issue of smog across Punjab. She emphasized that environmental protection is among the top priorities of the government, and collaborative efforts are being made with various institutions to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment.
The Minister appreciated the innovative efforts of UET engineers for developing the “Smog Gun” and termed it a revolutionary step towards controlling smog and reducing air pollution. She reiterated the government’s commitment to fully support such research based and technological initiatives that contribute to solving environmental challenges.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor UET Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir (TI) stated that UET Lahore is actively focusing on research and innovation to address environmental challenges. He added that sustainable development and a cleaner environment can only be achieved through close collaboration between academia, government, and industry.
The seminar was attended by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Deans of all faculties, Chairpersons/Directors of teaching departments, and Heads of non-teaching departments.
