LAHORE (monitoring Desk) – A judicial magistrate on Thursday handed over PTI social media activist Falak Javed to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on a five-day physical remand in cases linked to anti-state tweets and alleged derogatory remarks against Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari.

Falak, known for her fiery online presence and staunch loyalty to the PTI, was taken into custody on Wednesday. Authorities accused her of running anti-state propaganda and using abusive language targeting the provincial minister.
During Thursday’s hearing, the NCCIA argued that remand was necessary to interrogate her and trace the origins of the controversial content.
However, Falak’s lawyer, Mian Ali Ishfaq, contested the agency’s plea. He urged the court to order a medical examination of his client and demanded complete details of the cases registered against her.
Despite the defense’s arguments, the magistrate approved the NCCIA’s request and granted five-day physical remand.
This case has triggered a heated debate on social media and beyond — with PTI supporters calling it a clampdown on political expression, while government allies insist the law must take its course.
Falak Javed, sister of PTI leader Sanam Javed, has been a ‘vocal’ critic of the PML-N government on social media platforms. Her arrest adds to the growing list of PTI activists and digital voices facing charges of online dissent in recent months.
