LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, during his visit to Gujranwala Division, distributed education scholarships worth over PKR 10 million among 147 deserving minority students from matriculation, intermediate, graduation, master’s, and professional levels.

Addressing a graceful ceremony, the Minister congratulated the students, parents, and teachers, affirming that the Punjab Government stands firmly with the minority community. He emphasized that education is the only sustainable path to eradicating poverty, and the government is ensuring every possible educational facility for minority youth so they may turn their dreams into reality.
He further highlighted that the welfare initiatives worth billions of rupees by the Government of Punjab are clear evidence that minorities are the crown of the nation, and their prosperity remains a top priority. Ramesh Singh Arora also announced that the number of Minority Cards for religious minorities has been increased from 50,000 to 75,000, terming it a valuable support for families living below the poverty line. The Minister appreciated the cooperation of district administration officials including Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, AC City Iqra Ameen, and others, acknowledging their role in the successful execution of the initiative.
He further stated that the government and administration are tirelessly working for the rehabilitation of flood-affected citizens, while also urging affluent individuals to come forward and support the affected families in this difficult time. On the occasion, MPA Emmanuel Athar Javed, MPA Saima Zahid, Section Officer Minorities Urooj Ali, and social activist Dr. Majeed Abel were also present.
