LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan visited Shafiqabad Band Road Government Middle School Gaushala Flood Relief Camp.

On this occasion, DC Lahore Syed Musa Raza was also present. Commissioner Lahore reviewed the facilities provided by the district administration in the flood relief camp. Commissioner Lahore had breakfast with the people residing in the flood relief camp and discussed the facilities provided by the district administration. The people residing in the camp expressed satisfaction with the facilities provided by the administration. Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan also visited the sleeping/resting rooms of the people residing in the flood relief camp. Commissioner Lahore paid a special visit to the medical center set up for medical care in the flood relief camp. He took a special look at the medical corps, clinic on wheels, medicines and other facilities in the relief camp.
Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan has said that 31 villages in Lahore have been affected by the floods. She said that 43 thousand people were shifted to safe places and relief camps while 13 thousand 621 cattle were shifted to safe places. Commissioner Lahore said that 3898 people are present in 9 relief camps in 4 tehsils of Lahore while 3 flood relief camps have been established in Ravi Town/tehsil near River Ravi alone. Clothes are also being provided to those residing in the flood relief camps. The district administration should ensure all possible assistance.
Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan said that the Chief Minister of Punjab is monitoring practical measures and facilities for the relief of flood victims. As per the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, 17 medical camps are functioning in Lahore to treat water-borne diseases. Commissioner Lahore further said that 9 veterinary relief camps and 17 mobile dispensaries for livestock are also active in Lahore.
Meanwhile, a divisional meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Lahore Division Marryam Khan to review anti-dengue, anti-smog and flood relief operations in the entire division including Lahore. In the meeting, the relevant departments briefed the Commissioner Lahore.
The district administration, while giving a briefing on the anti-dengue campaign, said that dengue larva surveillance is ongoing in Lahore, There are fewer dengue cases this time compared to last year. Administration said that larvicidal drugs are being safely added to standing water to combat dengue. Currently, there is a high number of dengue larva in a UC in Iqbal Town, and teams are working there.
Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan, while giving instructions to the district administration regarding anti-dengue, has said that all anti-dengue protocols should be ensured 100 percent in the flood relief camps. A report on the implementation of the Punjab Chief Minister’s instructions on cleanliness, clean water and other issues in the relief camps must be compiled immediately. She said that food is being provided three times a day in the flood relief camp, while other daily needs should also be met.
While giving a briefing on anti-smog, officers of the Environment Department said that Lahore’s overall air quality index today is good, and continuous air quality monitoring is underway. They said that notices and instructions have been issued to industries for anti-smog advisory and emission control.
While giving instructions on anti-smog, Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan has said that anti-smog activities should not be affected due to floods, environmental teams should be present in the field, she said that advance planning should be done for anti-smog, last year Lahore faced severe smog. Commissioner Lahore further said that pyrolysis plants must be completely demolished and strict action must be taken against violations.
The meeting was attended by DC Lahore, Additional Commissioners Lahore Division, MD WASA, SSP Traffic, MCL, Environment, Rescue, Health, Industries and officers from other departments, while all DCs participated in the meeting through video link.
