24/7 Surveillance of Processions and Majalis Through Smart Safe City Centers Across All Districts

LAHORE: On the special directives of the Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab, Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements have been put in place across Lahore and all districts of Punjab for Muharram.

According to details, 24/7 live monitoring of processions and religious gatherings is being carried out through Smart Safe City Centers established in all districts. In addition to this, aerial surveillance is being conducted using drone cameras, and more than 5,000 additional CCTV cameras have been installed to further enhance security coverage. Live streaming from Safe City cameras has been linked to the Deputy Commissioners’ offices and the Home Department’s control rooms, while surveillance infrastructure from district administrations has also been integrated into the Safe City network. Regular meetings of district peace committees are being held during Muharram, where committee members have expressed full satisfaction with the arrangements made by the Safe Cities Authority. All activities are being closely monitored through body cameras provided to police personnel. Additionally, encroachments along procession routes are being identified and cleared in a timely manner. According to the spokesperson of Punjab Safe Cities Authority, strict implementation of the specially designed Muharram security plan is underway, and security has been made foolproof across all districts through integrated Safe City systems.
