LAHORE: Punjab Finance Minister Mujtuba Shuja-ur Rehman has presented the Punjab Budget 2024-25.
LAHORE: Opposition show its discontent by tearing up the budget documents
The Rs5.4 trillion budget comes a day after the federal budget. As the minister began his speech, highlighting the achievements of the incumbent government, opposition expressed his discontent by tearing up the budget documents.

In significant move, the minister announced that the budget would be tax free, indicating relief for the citizens.
The budget aims to allocate resources for various sectors, including education, healthcare and infrastructure.
The government allocated Rs9.5 billion for the Chief Minister’s Roshan Gharana Programme to provide free solar system to 100-units consumers. Apna Ghar Scheme allocated Rs10 billion, Agri tube-well solarization allocated Rs9 billion and Green Tractor Ptogramme Rs30 billion.
Other highlights included Rs1.25 billion for model agricultural malls, rs2 billion for livestock cards, and Rs8 billion for Aqaculture Shrimp Farming Programme.rs2.97 billion for CM skilled Programme, and Rs80 billion for the Chief Minister District SDGs Programme.
Additionally, Rs296 billion is earmarked for road construction and repair, and Rs530 billion for completing “dead scheme”.
The government also announced the development of Garment City Rs3 billion) and the resumption of CM Punjab Laptop Scheme Rs10 billion.
