MUMBAI (Web Desk) – Veteran actress Rakhee Gulzar has come out in support of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan following criticism over reports that he is set to marry longtime partner Gauri Spratt at the age of 60.

News of Aamir Khan’s reported wedding plans has dominated entertainment headlines and social media discussions in recent days. While many fans have expressed happiness for the actor as he prepares to begin a new chapter in his personal life, others have questioned his decision to marry for a third time later in life.

Amid the mixed reactions, Rakhee Gulzar dismissed the criticism and defended the actor’s right to choose happiness and companionship regardless of age.

Speaking in an interview with Variety India, the veteran actress said she may not be closely connected with the day-to-day happenings of the film industry, nor has she worked with Aamir Khan, but she has always regarded him as a sincere and respectable individual.

“I am not in touch with the goings-on in the film industry, nor have I worked with Aamir Khan. But I do know he is a very sincere person,” Rakhee said.

She went on to praise the actor for maintaining warm and respectful relationships with his former wives, Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, even after their marriages ended.

“And I love the way he has maintained his friendship with his two wives even after the marriage. It says a lot about him,” she added.

Rakhee’s remarks have resonated with many fans online, with supporters arguing that personal happiness and companionship should not be restricted by age or societal expectations.

The veteran actress also strongly rejected the notion that there is an age limit for marriage.

“What is wrong with marrying at 60?” she asked, challenging those criticising Aamir over his reported decision.

Drawing from her own experience, Rakhee noted that she herself married legendary filmmaker Gulzar when she was 40, suggesting that meaningful relationships can begin at any stage of life.

The comments come as public interest continues to grow over Aamir Khan’s reported wedding plans. According to Indian media reports, the actor has been in a committed relationship with Gauri Spratt for more than a year. Sources close to the development claim that the couple decided to formalise their relationship after carefully considering their future together.

Reports further suggest that the wedding ceremony will be an intimate affair held at Aamir Khan’s residence, attended only by close friends and family members.

Several prominent names from the Bollywood industry are expected to be part of the celebrations. Media reports indicate that superstars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan are likely to attend the private ceremony, adding further excitement among fans.

Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he shares two children, before the couple separated in 2002. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005. The two announced their separation in 2021 but have continued to work together professionally and co-parent their son, Azad.

While Aamir has yet to publicly address every detail surrounding the reported wedding, Rakhee Gulzar’s support has shifted part of the conversation away from age and towards respect, companionship and the importance of maintaining healthy relationships.

As debate continues online, many admirers believe the actor’s personal choices should remain his own, and that finding love and choosing marriage should not be defined by a number.
