LAHORE (Web Desk) –The Government of Punjab has moved to procure 108 new vehicles at a total estimated cost of Rs1.14 billion for ministers, senior civil servants and official inspection teams during the current financial year.

Official sources said the transport wing has forwarded its recommendations to the provincial cabinet for consideration. The proposal includes the purchase of 28 vehicles for cabinet members at an estimated cost of Rs300 million.
The suggested fleet comprises one Toyota Land Cruiser, two Haval 1.5 vehicles, five Toyota Corolla Grande Altis, 10 Toyota Altis and 10 Toyota Yaris cars.
Additionally, two bulletproof four-by-four vehicles valued at Rs40 million have been proposed for two ministers, following earlier government approval to acquire armoured vehicles on security grounds.
Sources added that the procurement of 25 vehicles worth Rs270 million for VIP security duties has already received approval.
For the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, vehicles costing Rs530 million have been proposed. The plan includes 30 double-cabin pick-up trucks, 11 Toyota Yaris and three Toyota Altis cars. The inspection fleet is also set to include Suzuki Cultus cars and motorcycles.
Officials said the purchasing process will commence once final clearance is granted. The provincial administration maintains that the acquisitions are necessary to meet operational and security requirements.
