Citizens advised to avoid unnecessary travel during rain โ€“ Call 15 in case of emergency, says spokesperson

By Our Correspondent

LAHORE: In response to the recent rainfall in Lahore, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) is actively assisting the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in ensuring proper drainage in low-lying areas. Using advanced technology, virtual patrolling, and its extensive camera network, Safe City is providing continuous support to WASA. According to details, real-time monitoring was conducted through Safe City’s cameras to detect water accumulation, blocked drains, and sewerage issues in various parts of the city. The gathered information, including videos and images, was immediately shared with WASA officials to enable swift drainage operations. WASA representatives are stationed 24/7 at the Safe City Command and Control Center to ensure prompt action with the help of field teams. Locations identified through camera monitoring were relayed to field teams for immediate dispatch to minimize inconvenience to citizens. The primary objective of this special monitoring effort is to ensure rapid drainage in rain-affected and low-lying areas. Images and location data of water accumulation sites were provided to WASA, resulting in timely response and on-ground action. Punjab Safe Cities Authority continues to work in close coordination with relevant departments to ensure public convenience, safety, and emergency response. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel during rainfall and call 15 in case of any emergency. For the latest traffic updates, stay tuned to: Safe City FM 88.6
