LAHORE: Standing Committee on Law & Parliamentary Affairs met today under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammad Arshad Malik, MPA, with the participation of Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Minister for Law, Mr. Khalid Mahmood Ranjha, Parliamentary Secretary, and other committee members including Mr. Khan Bahadur, MPA, Mr. Imran Akram, MPA, Malik Nosher Khan Anjam Lungerial, MPA, and Ms. Farzana Abbas, MPA.
The committee reviewed budget utilization for FY 2025–26, ongoing and proposed development schemes, establishment of the Punjab Judicial Academy at Kala Shah Kaku, creation of a Resource Center for Parliamentarians, establishment of District Attorney Offices, digitization of the Contract Act and civil litigation system, and construction of judicial infrastructure including consumer courts, defamation tribunals, Lady Bar Rooms in courts, and District Attorney offices in Gujrat, Jhang, and Pakpattan.
The committee issued key directions and recommendations, including enhancement of financial benefits for legal advisors, increased grants for bar associations with a check-and-balance mechanism, and timely completion of judicial projects. The committee appreciated the efforts of the Law Department, directed a site visit for members, and the Chairman concluded the meeting by thanking all participants.
