Chaudhry Aslam Gul, Executive Committee Member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), paid tribute to President Asif Ali Zardari for pursuing the case of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in the Supreme Court, reaffirming his commitment to Bhutto’s ideology and vision.

He expressed these views while addressing a prayer ceremony held at Shahbaz Durrani’s residence in Township on the 47th death anniversary of the former prime minister and PPP founder.
Prominent participants including Naveed Chaudhry, Asif Hashmi, Faiza Malik, Ashraf Khan, Chaudhry Riaz and Sohail Malik also addressed the gathering, while Rana Ashar Nisar conducted organisational duties. Special prayers were offered for Bhutto and other party martyrs.
Speakers highlighted Bhutto’s role in empowering the common people and strengthening Pakistan’s global standing, particularly through the country’s nuclear programme. They emphasized that Bhutto’s philosophy continues to guide political thought and resistance against authoritarianism.
Naveed Chaudhry urged party workers to promote unity and consensus instead of factionalism. Asif Hashmi demanded that judges involved in Bhutto’s execution be held accountable.
Other speakers stressed internal reforms within the PPP, calling for leadership based on merit and intellectual capacity rather than wealth or influence. They reaffirmed their resolve to continue raising their voice against undue dominance within the party.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of party workers and local leaders, reflecting continued grassroots support for Bhutto’s legacy.
