LAHORE – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has introduced a new cabin crew uniform collection designed by renowned Pakistani fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, popularly known as HSY, as part of the national carrierās broader transformation strategy.
The collection was unveiled in Lahore on Thursday and is scheduled to make its operational debut on October 31, 2026, aboard PIAās first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner flight from London to Islamabad.
According to the airline, the uniforms have been developed around a ālifestyle firstā approach, prioritising comfort, durability and ease of movement for cabin crew members working on long-haul flights.
The designs combine breathable fabrics with contemporary tailoring, incorporating colours and details inspired by Pakistanās cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship.
HSY was selected following a competitive presentation in Karachi, where 10 leading Pakistani designers showcased their concepts before a jury comprising fashion professionals and industry representatives.
Yasin said designing uniforms for the national flag carrier was an opportunity to express national pride and reflect the warmth of Pakistani hospitality.
The initiative comes as PIA pursues a wider transformation under its new consortium-led management, with the airline seeking to modernise its image and enhance the passenger experience.
PIA has previously collaborated with internationally recognised designers on its cabin crew attire. French designer Pierre Cardin created the airlineās distinctive A-line tunic and hood in 1966, while British royal couturier Sir Hardy Amies contributed his tailoring expertise during the 1970s. A later uniform collection inspired by Pakistani designer Nomi Ansari remained in use for 12 years.
The latest collection represents another chapter in the airlineās design history, combining contemporary fashion with a distinctly Pakistani identity.
Passengers are expected to see the new uniforms in service from the end of October as PIA prepares to introduce its new Dreamliner operations.
