TEHRAN (Web Desk) – Tensions between Iran and the United States have intensified sharply, as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian urged American citizens to question their government’s motives for war, warning against what he described as a “machinery of misinformation.”

In an open letter addressed to the US public, Pezeshkian called on citizens to look beyond official narratives and critically assess the reasons driving the escalating conflict. His remarks come amid a rapidly deteriorating regional security environment and growing fears of wider confrontation.
Meanwhile, a senior Iranian official rejected claims by US President Donald Trump that Iran’s leadership had sought a ceasefire, dismissing the assertion as inaccurate and misleading.
On the ground, the situation continues to worsen. Qatar’s Defence Ministry reported that missiles launched from Iran struck an oil tanker within its territorial waters, raising concerns over maritime security in the Gulf. In neighbouring Kuwait, authorities confirmed that an Iranian attack triggered a massive fire at fuel storage facilities at Kuwait International Airport, further heightening regional alarm.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also signalled a deepening diplomatic freeze, stating that although Tehran has received messages from Washington, trust in the United States has fallen to “zero.” He made it clear that no formal negotiations are currently underway.
As hostilities intensify and diplomatic channels remain stalled, the risk of a broader regional conflict continues to grow, with both sides showing little indication of de-escalation.
