ISLAMABAD โ€” The National Highway Authority (NHA) has increased toll charges on the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M-2) by 7 percent under a revised notification issued on Saturday.

According to the notification, the new toll rates will remain applicable until April 23, 2027, and have been implemented under a concession agreement with Motorway Operations and Rehabilitation Engineering (Private) Limited (MORE), a subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), which manages rehabilitation and modernisation of the motorway.

Under the revised structure, toll charges have been increased across all vehicle categories, including cars, wagons, coasters, buses, and heavy transport vehicles. The adjustment is based on a per-kilometre charging mechanism.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has separately suspended an earlier NHA notification that imposed an additional 50 percent toll on vehicles without an M-Tag or with insufficient balance.

The decision comes amid ongoing debates over motorway toll policies, digital tolling systems like M-Tag enforcement, and judicial scrutiny of additional charges imposed by the NHA.

The revision is expected to raise travel costs for commuters, transport operators, and logistics companies, potentially increasing freight and passenger fares between Islamabad and Lahore.

  • Cars, jeeps, taxis: Rs1,430
  • Wagons: Rs2,390
  • Coasters: Rs3,350
