LAHORE: A dignified condolence reference in memory of former Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, was organized by the Foriegn Alumni Fraternity at Government Islamia Civil Lines College, Lahore.

The ceremony commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by Naat in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The Provincial Minister for Law, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, attended the ceremony as the chief guest.
Among the notable participants were Director General PEMRA Ayesha Wattoo, Vice Chairperson Punjab Social Protection Authority Jahan Ara Wattoo, senior journalists Mujib-ur-Rehman Shami and Mian Habib, Hassan Mahmood Zaidi, Br (R) Jabbar Butt, along with prominent figures from journalistic, diplomatic, military and political circles Paying rich tribute to the late Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, Provincial Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said, “Today we are gathered to remember a great political leader, a wise jurist and a dignified human being whose passing is an irreparable loss to the politics of the province.” He added that as Speaker, Mian Manzoor Wattoo ran the Assembly with dignity, impartiality and within constitutional limits, while as Chief Minister his style of governance was a practical example of balance, consultation and tolerance.
“Mian Manzoor Wattoo considered difference of opinion not as hostility but as the beauty of democracy. His grace, patience and political wisdom will always be remembered and will serve as a guiding light for future generations of politicians,” he said, and also offered prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Speaking on the occasion, senior journalist Mian Habib said that Mian Manzoor Wattoo was a custodian of democratic traditions and a staunch defender of the dignity of the Constitution and Parliament. Senior journalist Mujib-ur-Rehman Shami paid tribute to the late leader’s grace, tolerance and dignified conduct, stating that he always upheld decency even in disagreement.
Br (R) Jabbar Butt lauded his national vision, tolerance and principled politics.
The late leader’s daughters, Jahan Ara Wattoo and Ayesha Wattoo, in their addresses said that their father always devoted his life to public service and democratic values and firmly believed in principled politics. At the end of the ceremony, Provincial Minister for Law Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan was also presented with an honorary shield in recognition of his participation.
