LAHORE, Pakistan — The Lahore Region Cricket Association (LRCA) has completed preparations for the second phase of Under-15 and Under-17 trials under the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) age-group trials programme.
The trials will be held on October 26 and 27, 2026, at the Ittefaq LCCA Ground on the special instructions of LRCA President Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed.
According to the schedule, Under-15 trials will take place on October 26, while Under-17 trials are scheduled for October 27.
Only players shortlisted during the first phase of trials from Lahore Region’s five zones will be eligible to participate in the second phase. The list of eligible players will be released on Friday.
Khawaja Nadeem Ahmed said the primary objective of the age-group trials was to identify and develop young cricketing talent in Lahore through merit-based and transparent selection, laying a strong foundation for the future of Pakistan cricket.
He said providing equal opportunities to young players to demonstrate their abilities remained a key priority for the association. Merit, discipline and prescribed selection criteria would be strictly observed throughout the process.
The trials will be supervised by Lahore Region head coaches Aizaz Cheema and Ashraf Ali, with district coaches Kamran Sajid, Asif Ashfaq, Kashif Siddiq, Irfan Fazal and Amir Sajjad serving as assistant coaches.
The coaching panel will assess players’ technical skills, cricketing abilities and overall performances.
The LRCA president has also directed the presidents of all five zones to appoint coordinators for the trials. The coordinators will facilitate the selection committee and verify players’ birth certificates and other relevant documents to ensure transparency and compliance with age-verification requirements.
Ahmed said wrist tests would also be conducted to verify the ages of players who qualify in the second phase.
Following the trials, successful players will be divided into teams for inter-team competitions at the Lahore Region level. Their performances, technical abilities and overall standards during these matches will determine the final Lahore Region Under-15 and Under-17 squads.
Ahmed reaffirmed the association’s commitment to developing young cricketers through coordinated and transparent initiatives aimed at preparing them for higher levels of the game.
He expressed confidence that the second-phase trials and subsequent regional competitions would help identify talented players capable of representing Lahore and Pakistan in the future.
Investing in age-group cricket was an investment in the future of Pakistan cricket, he said, adding that the Lahore Region would continue to fulfil this responsibility with professionalism, commitment and a firm focus on merit.
