LAHORE, Pakistan — Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana has described public trust as the police’s greatest achievement, emphasising that effective policing requires transparency, prompt justice and a commitment to public service.

He expressed these views during a visit by a 33-member delegation of trainee deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) from Sindh Police to Lahore Police Headquarters on Wednesday.

The delegation, currently undergoing training at the National Police Academy, was led by SP Aurangzeb and received by DIG (Administration) Imran Kishwar and SSP (Discipline) Kashif Aslam.

During the visit, Imran Kishwar briefed the officers on Lahore Police’s administrative and operational affairs, professional training programmes, ongoing reforms and crime prevention strategies.

Addressing the delegation, Kamyana said police stations were being transformed from traditional police facilities into public service centres focused on providing citizens with dignified treatment and prompt, transparent justice.

He said protecting the lives, property and honour of citizens was the fundamental responsibility of the police.

The CCPO added that Lahore Police was working to improve service delivery through modern community policing initiatives.

“Preventing social crimes is a shared responsibility of the police and the community,” he said, calling for greater public cooperation to address social challenges.

Kamyana said the outdated practice of keeping citizens waiting at police offices was unacceptable, adding that policing was not merely a job but a way of life dedicated to public service.

He urged the trainee officers to uphold these principles in their professional careers, prioritise the swift resolution of public grievances and ensure timely relief for citizens.

The visiting officers appreciated Lahore Police’s professional services. At the conclusion of the visit, the CCPO presented honorary shields to members of the Sindh Police delegation.

Meanwhile, — Lahore police and district administration have reviewed security and administrative arrangements for the annual Raiwind Tablighi Ijtema, with authorities pledging comprehensive security measures for participants.

CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana and Lahore Commissioner Nauman Yousaf visited Raiwind Tablighi Markaz to assess preparations for the religious congregation.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Capt (retd) Muhammad Ali Ijaz, DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, Chief Traffic Officer Abdul Rahim Shirazi, other relevant officials and representatives of the Ijtema administration, including Ijtema Ameer-e-Pindal Dr Nadeem Ashraf, attended the meeting.

The first phase of the annual congregation is scheduled for November 6 to 8, while the second phase will take place from November 12 to 15.

Speaking during the visit, Kamyana said foolproof security would be provided to all participants. He directed the authorities concerned to ensure round-the-clock CCTV surveillance of all entry and exit points at the venue.

He also stressed that no one would be allowed to enter the congregation venue without proper security screening.

The CCPO said close coordination among the district administration and relevant departments was essential to ensure the peaceful conduct of the gathering.

He added that a comprehensive traffic management plan was being prepared to facilitate participants and maintain the smooth flow of traffic across Lahore.

The review focused on security arrangements, traffic management and other administrative measures required for the two phases of the annual religious gathering.
