According to officials, the blaze erupted on the seventh floor of the building, which is used as a parking area. Rescue 1122 said the fire started in one vehicle and quickly spread to two others, intensifying the flames and smoke.
Fire Brigade authorities dispatched at least three fire tenders initially, later calling in additional units as the fire’s intensity increased. An aerial ladder, known as a snorkel, was also requested to assist in evacuating people who were feared trapped inside.
Rescue officials confirmed that all individuals were safely evacuated from the building. However, one person reportedly lost consciousness due to smoke inhalation and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Shopkeepers in the market closed their stores as a precaution while emergency crews worked to contain the situation. The fire was eventually brought under control, preventing further spread to other parts of the building.
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab directed authorities to ensure the protection of lives and property and to expedite the rescue operation. An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to be launched by relevant authorities.
