SKARDU (Web Desk) – A married couple and their two young children have been found dead in a suspected honour-related killing in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, prompting police to launch an investigation and establish security checkpoints across the city.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Aslam, his 30-year-old wife Hania, and their two children, aged five years and two-and-a-half years. Their bodies were discovered behind Madina Colony in Skardu, according to police.

The shocking incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of families involved in marriages opposed by relatives, although investigators have yet to establish whether the killings were motivated by family or honour-related disputes.

Police officials said multiple aspects of the case were being examined to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identify those responsible.

Couple reportedly contracted court marriage seven years ago

Initial information suggests that Aslam and Hania had contracted a court marriage approximately seven years ago.

According to the available details, Aslam belonged to Rondu, while Hania was reportedly from Parachinar. The couple had been living together with their two young children.

The reported background of their marriage has brought attention to the possibility of a family dispute connected to their relationship.

However, police have not confirmed that the couple’s marriage was the motive behind the incident. Investigators are examining different possibilities and have emphasised that the actual circumstances will only become clear after the completion of the investigation.

The deaths of the two children have added to the tragedy, as both were reportedly very young and had no apparent involvement in the circumstances surrounding their parents’ relationship.

Family raises allegations over killings

Following the discovery of the bodies, the deceased man’s family accused relatives of Hania’s family of involvement in the murders.

The allegations have become part of the wider investigation, but police have not officially established the involvement of any individual or family member.

Authorities are working to determine whether the incident resulted from a family dispute, an alleged honour-related conflict or another motive.

Officials have cautioned against reaching conclusions before the completion of the investigation and the examination of available evidence.

The identification and arrest of those responsible remain important priorities for investigators.

Police strengthen security across Skardu

Following the incident, police established security checkpoints at the entry and exit points of Skardu to monitor movement and assist in efforts to trace potential suspects.

Law enforcement teams have also launched an investigation and started collecting evidence from the location where the bodies were discovered.

The investigation is focused on establishing the sequence of events, determining the circumstances of the deaths and identifying anyone who may have been involved.

Police are examining the available information surrounding the couple’s personal and family circumstances as part of efforts to establish a possible motive.

Authorities have not yet announced any confirmed arrests or disclosed the identities of suspected perpetrators.

Officials said further progress would depend on the evidence collected during the investigation and the findings of relevant examinations.

Honour-related violence raises serious concerns

The incident has once again drawn attention to violence linked to family disputes and alleged honour-related conflicts in Pakistan.

Such cases raise concerns about the protection of individuals who face threats or hostility over personal relationships and marriage decisions.

Women and children can be particularly vulnerable when family disagreements escalate into violence. The killing of two young children alongside their parents makes the Skardu incident especially distressing.

Preventing such violence requires effective law enforcement, timely intervention when threats are reported and protection for individuals facing pressure or intimidation from relatives.

It also highlights the importance of ensuring that allegations of honour-related violence are investigated thoroughly and that those found responsible face legal consequences.

Investigation continues

Police officials have maintained that the motive behind the killings remains undetermined and that all relevant aspects of the case are being examined.

The authorities are continuing to collect evidence, investigate the allegations raised by the deceased man’s family and identify those responsible.

The establishment of checkpoints across Skardu reflects the police response following the discovery of the bodies, while further investigative steps are expected to clarify the circumstances.

The deaths of Aslam, Hania and their two children have left a devastating impact on their families and renewed concerns about family-related violence.

Authorities are expected to establish the facts through the investigation and take legal action against those found responsible.
