LAHORE: In the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the technologically advanced Smart Safe City Murree has been made fully operational to ensure enhanced safety and convenience for tourists visiting the scenic region of Murree.

The official inauguration of the project by the Chief Minister is expected to take place soon. According to details over 170 high-tech surveillance cameras have been installed at key entry and exit points, tourist destinations, and other important locations across Murree. These cameras ensure 24/7 live monitoring and help maintain public safety at all times. In addition, 15 emergency panic buttons have been installed at various locations to provide immediate assistance in case of any emergency. Environmental sensors have also been installed to monitor weather conditions, fog/SMOG levels, temperature, and air quality in real time. To further enhance on-ground security and response capabilities, local police have been equipped with modern body cameras and surveillance drone
The project also includes the activation of free public Wi-Fi hotspots at key tourist locations, enabling visitors to access information, stay connected, and report emergencies more efficiently.According to the Safe Cities spokesperson, the newly installed cameras will also support automated vehicle monitoring and facilitate intelligent traffic management, improving the overall traffic flow and reducing congestion in peak tourist seasons. Tourists are strongly encouraged to follow the guidelines issued by local administration and Safe Cities officials to ensure their safety and that of others.
