LAHORE: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Smart Safe Cities projects are significantly enhancing police operations. With the use of cutting-edge technology, real-time crime tracing and swift identification and arrest of suspects have become a reality.

In recent incidents across various cities of Punjab, the Smart Safe Cities system has played a vital role. In Sialkot, an armed mobile snatching case was traced within just five minutes by the Safe City team, leading to the swift identification of the suspects. In Gujranwala, another mobile snatching incident was resolved in seven minutes, with the help of surveillance cameras, enabling quick identification and timely arrests. Similarly, a shop robbery in Sialkot was traced within ten minutes, with all evidence promptly handed over to the police. In another Gujranwala robbery case, suspects were identified in just thirty minutes, followed by swift police action and arrests. In Okara, a house robbery was solved through effective backtracking by the Smart City system, resulting in the suspects being apprehended the very next day. Likewise, in Lahore, a suspect involved in a mobile theft was tracked and arrested within a few hours using Safe City cameras
According to a PSCA spokesperson, the Smart Safe Cities initiative is enabling rapid response in emergency situations. With the integration of advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and an extensive camera network, notable success has been achieved in crime prevention and control. Citizens are advised to immediately contact the 15 Helpline in case of any emergency.
