LAHORE: The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken serious notice of the illegal reinstatement of multiple officers dismissed on corruption charges in Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).

A high-level committee is formed to investigate the matter and will submit its findings within 10 days, as per the official notification issued.

The allegations against LESCO management include reinstating 12 officers after receiving bribes, procuring equipment from an international company without following proper procedures, granting illegal connections to Khayaban-e-Amin Society, and disregarding legal rules in various matters.
The notification states that the appointment of former Chief Executive Chaudhary Ameen was also made in violation of the law.
According to sources, the committee has summoned the current LESCO CEO, the Chairman of the LESCO Board, and other officials to Islamabad tomorrow for statements. After recording their statements, the committee will submit its final report to the Prime Minister by January 10, as confirmed by Energy Division sources.
