LAHORE Raja Hassan Akhtar, Convener of the Standing Committee on ASEAN and former Executive Committee Member, announced plans to establish export desks in all ASEAN countries on a self-financed and self-supporting basis.

The initiative aims to facilitate Pakistani exporters in effectively reaching buyers across the ASEAN region. Raja Hassan stated that the first export desk will be set up in Jakarta, Indonesia, and will focus on promoting key Pakistani exports such as leather and leather byproducts, skin hides, fresh fruits and vegetables, salts and salt byproducts, rice, textile products, and medical instruments.
He further revealed plans for a trade delegation to visit Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore, also on a self-financed basis. The delegation will explore business opportunities and work toward strengthening trade ties between Pakistan and ASEAN countries.
The announcement was made during a meeting attended by over 62 participants, including notable figures such as Mian Imran Asghar, Muhammad Yaseen, Talat Zameen, Bishan Singh, Mehmood Gujjar, Umair, Sheikh Irfan, and Ameen Bhatti.
Raja Hassan emphasized the vast potential for trade between Pakistan and ASEAN countries and expressed commitment to creating new avenues for Pakistani businesses to establish a strong presence in the region.
