NANKANA SAHIB: District Education Department organised STEAM competitions for making scientific models among students.
More than two hundred students from twenty government educational institutions participated in these competitions at the district level and demonstrated their hidden creative abilities. The young scientists surprised everyone by making interesting and informative models on various topics. In these competitions held at Government Gurunanak Higher Secondary School, more than two hundred girl and boy students participated and presented 80 models on different topics of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Taslim Akhtar along with Additional Program Director Imtiaz Shahid, CEO District Education Authority Dr. Muhammad Qayyum Khan, District Education Officers Abdul Salam Tayyab and Dr. Saima Zafar along with other officers visited the stalls of models made by young scientists. They were surprised to see the interesting models. Deputy Commissioner also asked questions from the children and applauded them heartily for their satisfactory answers. He appreciated the efforts of CEO Education, his team and teachers for organizing wonderful competitions to bring out the talented students and directed to continue this process.In these competitions, Govt Gorunanak High School won first, Government High School Shahkot won second, while Govt. M.C Girls high school got third position. Certificates and cash prizes were distributed by DEA among the position holder students. Now the psotiin holder schools will participate at division and than provincial level competitions.
