KARACHI: Pakistani authorities have initiated a landmark crackdown on the misuse of green channel privileges, targeting industrialists exploiting the facility for smuggling, misdeclaration, and under-invoicing.
Led by Chief Collector Enforcement Basit Abbasi and supported by Collector Moinuddin Wani, Additional Collector Basit Hussain, and Deputy Collector ASO Raza Naqvi, the operation has already exposed serious violations.
A key case involved Century Engineering Industries (PVT) Limited, which falsely declared imported used battery accumulators as scrap.
Customs teams intercepted the consignments, revealing functional batteries instead of waste. Legal actions was taken, and further investigations are underway.
This operation, coupled with a super audit team formed by Chief Collector Jameel Nasir, marks a historic step toward transparency and accountability in Pakistan’s customs practices.
