LAHORE – The Punjab government has reshuffled three senior police officers, issuing a fresh transfer notification that assigns new responsibilities to two Additional Inspector General-rank officials and directs another to report to the provincial administration.

Under the notification, Muhammad Kamran Khan has been posted as Additional Inspector General of Investigation Punjab, while Syed Khurram Ali has been appointed Additional Inspector General of South Punjab.

Shehzada Sultan, who was serving as Additional IG South Punjab, has been directed to report to the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD).

The latest order marks another adjustment in the senior police leadership of the province, where the government has authority over administrative postings and transfers within the provincial police structure.

The notification follows an earlier transfer order issued for the same officers about a week ago. The government has now issued a fresh notification outlining their latest postings, although no detailed explanation for the revised arrangements was included in the information available.

The changes affect two important areas of police administration: investigation at the provincial level and policing in South Punjab. The Investigation branch has a central role in overseeing and coordinating investigative matters, while the South Punjab post carries responsibility for police administration across the region.

The appointment of Kamran Khan to the Investigation portfolio places him in a key position within the provincial police hierarchy. The office is linked to the handling and supervision of criminal investigations, an area that has a direct bearing on the quality of evidence gathering and the progress of cases through the criminal justice system.

Khurram Ali’s posting to South Punjab comes as the province continues to manage policing requirements across its southern districts. The region has distinct administrative and law-enforcement needs, making coordination among senior officers and district police leadership important for maintaining public order and responding to crime.

Meanwhile, Sultan’s direction to report to S&GAD means he has been moved from his previous regional assignment. The notification, however, does not specify his next posting or indicate whether he will be given another responsibility in the police department.

The issuance of a revised notification after an earlier order has also drawn attention to the process of senior-level administrative appointments. Such changes can affect the distribution of responsibilities within the police force and the coordination between provincial headquarters and regional commands.

No further details were provided about the reasons behind the latest reshuffle, and the notification did not outline any policy changes linked to the appointments.

The provincial government has not indicated whether additional changes to the senior police command are planned. The latest order, however, formalises the new assignments and directs the officers concerned to proceed according to their revised postings.

The development comes at a time when law enforcement remains a central administrative responsibility for Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province. Senior police appointments are closely watched because they influence the management of investigations, regional command structures and the implementation of policing priorities.

The new postings are expected to place the officers in their respective roles as the provincial police administration adjusts its senior-level responsibilities. Further information about any subsequent appointments or changes was not included in the notification.
