LAHORE: The election commission of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has announced the official results of the Corporate Class elections, with Vision Alliance securing a majority of seats on the Executive Committee.
According to the results announced by Election Commission members Khalid Gujjar and Haris Atiq, 13 candidates from Vision Alliance and two candidates from the PPBA Alliance were declared successful out of the 15 Corporate Class Executive Committee seats.
Vision Alliance presidential candidate Ali Hussam Asghar topped the polling with 1,700 votes, followed by Sheikh Muhammad Ibrahim with 1,638 votes.
Other successful Vision Alliance candidates included Hamid Raza, who secured 1,605 votes, Yusuf Rizvi with 1,588 votes, Azim Iftikhar with 1,585 votes, Syed Mardan Ali Zaidi with 1,570 votes, Tariq Mahmood with 1,562 votes, Zulfiqar Chaudhry with 1,549 votes, Hamad Mahmood with 1,544 votes, Chaudhry Fargham with 1,541 votes, Muhammad Ali with 1,535 votes, Umar Abdullah with 1,512 votes and Hamza Majeed with 1,455 votes.
From the PPBA Alliance, Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry was declared successful with 1,478 votes, while Amir Atta Bari secured victory with 1,460 votes.
The election commission said the official record was sealed in the presence of observers from the Directorate General of Trade Organisations (DGTO).
Meanwhile, PPBA Alliance Chairman Mian Anjum Nisar expressed reservations over the counting process. PPBA candidates have submitted an application to the election commission seeking recounting of votes.
The LCCI Corporate Class elections are part of the annual electoral process to select representatives of the business community. The final composition of the chamberās leadership will be completed after the remaining electoral process and formal procedures.
