Tehran (Web Desk) – Pakistan and Iran have reported significant progress in diplomatic discussions following Field Marshal Asim Munir’s visit, with both sides focusing on regional stability, conflict de-escalation and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian presidential office spokesman Seyed Mehdi Tabatabaei described Munir’s visit as productive and said its diplomatic results were expected to become visible soon.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also said important progress was achieved during his meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Field Marshal Munir. He said discussions covered the Iran-US conflict, escalating tensions across the Middle East and possible steps toward reducing hostilities.
Naqvi said the meetings also addressed measures needed to restore an Islamabad memorandum of understanding, which officials believe could support broader efforts toward a comprehensive settlement.
The Pakistani minister said President Pezeshkian clearly presented Iran’s position and concerns, while the discussions remained constructive and positive.
Earlier, Pakistan’s military said Munir met Iran’s senior political and security officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Supreme Leader’s representative to the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, and the foreign and interior ministers.
The meetings reportedly focused on preventing further escalation, facilitating the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and advancing dialogue aimed at resolving the conflict.
Iranian leaders welcomed Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate negotiations and de-escalation, while Islamabad expressed hope that the latest progress would lead to further diplomatic measures and contribute to lasting regional peace.
