LAHORE – Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Tanveer A Sheikh has assumed charge as acting president of the chamber following the departure of LCCI President Faheemur Rehman Saigol for a 10-day official visit to Europe focused on trade and industrial engagement.

According to LCCI officials, Faheemur Rehman Saigol has embarked on the European tour as part of efforts to explore new avenues of cooperation between Pakistani businesses and European counterparts. The visit is aimed at promoting trade relations, identifying investment opportunities, and strengthening industrial linkages between Pakistan and European markets.

During the absence of the LCCI president, Tanveer A Sheikh, being the Senior Vice President, will oversee the affairs of the chamber and represent the business community on key matters. He is expected to continue the chamber’s ongoing activities, including engagement with government departments, policy discussions, and facilitation of the business community.

Tanveer A Sheikh is a senior business leader associated with the LCCI and has remained actively involved in addressing issues faced by traders and industrialists. As acting president, he is likely to focus on maintaining continuity in the chamber’s operations and pursuing initiatives related to economic growth, ease of doing business, and industrial development.

The LCCI leadership has emphasized the importance of strengthening Pakistan’s trade footprint in international markets. Business delegations and foreign visits have remained a key part of the chamber’s strategy to enhance exports, attract foreign investment, and create opportunities for local industries.

Sources said that during his European visit, Faheemur Rehman Saigol will hold meetings with business groups, trade organizations, and industry representatives to discuss potential collaborations and areas of mutual interest. The visit comes at a time when Pakistani businesses are seeking greater access to international markets amid economic challenges.

The LCCI, one of the country’s largest and most influential chambers of commerce, regularly engages with policymakers and international stakeholders to highlight the concerns of the private sector.

The business community has welcomed initiatives aimed at expanding international trade links, hoping that such engagements would help increase exports, improve industrial competitiveness, and attract technology transfer.

Tanveer A Sheikh will remain at the helm of LCCI affairs until the return of Faheemur Rehman Saigol from his European tour, after which the president will resume his responsibilities.
