LAHORE – Actress and model Zainab Raza has become the centre of discussion on social media after an outfit she wore in a recent television drama scene drew mixed reactions from viewers.

Zainab is currently appearing in the drama serial Rehmat, where her performance has received praise from audiences. However, alongside appreciation for her acting, one particular scene from the drama has generated considerable attention online due to her wardrobe choice.

The discussion began after the actress appeared in a purple saree paired with a blouse that some viewers considered relatively bold for television. While the scene itself was brief and presented in a restrained manner, screenshots and clips shared online quickly sparked debate among social media users.

A section of viewers expressed concern over costume selections in Pakistani television dramas, arguing that greater care should be taken when choosing outfits for content broadcast to a nationwide audience. Some users questioned the role of directors and production teams in approving such wardrobe decisions, suggesting that cultural sensitivities should remain an important consideration.

Others, however, defended the actress and the production, maintaining that discussions should focus on the quality of performances and storytelling rather than clothing choices. Supporters argued that costumes are part of a character’s portrayal and should not overshadow an actor’s work or the overall narrative of a drama.

The differing reactions have fueled broader conversations online about the evolving nature of television content in Pakistan. Many users highlighted the challenge of balancing creative expression with cultural expectations, a topic that frequently resurfaces whenever entertainment productions attract public scrutiny.

Industry observers note that debates surrounding fashion, artistic freedom and audience preferences have become increasingly common in the age of social media, where scenes from television dramas can quickly gain widespread attention and generate diverse opinions.

Despite the controversy, Rehmat continues to receive positive feedback for its storyline and performances, while the discussion surrounding Zainab Raza’s outfit has once again brought the issue of costumes and cultural values in Pakistani television into the spotlight.
