MUZAFFARABAD (Web Desk) – Authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have ordered the temporary suspension of mobile phone and internet services ahead of a planned protest strike announced by the Joint Awami Action Committee.

According to official directives, communication services are scheduled to be suspended from 11:30pm and are expected to remain unavailable until June 12 as part of security arrangements in the region.

The move follows unsuccessful negotiations between government representatives and the Joint Awami Action Committee over a number of unresolved issues. Discussions reportedly ended without an agreement after both sides failed to reach common ground on key demands.

JAAC leaders have confirmed that the organization will proceed with its previously announced region-wide shutdown and wheel-jam strike on June 9. The committee maintains that the protest will continue until its concerns are addressed.

Speaking to the media, JAAC leadership said talks with government officials did not result in any breakthrough. According to the committee, authorities urged organizers to withdraw the strike call, a proposal that was rejected by protest leaders.

Following the collapse of negotiations, preparations for the planned demonstration have continued across various parts of the region.

Government authorities said the suspension of communication services has been introduced as a precautionary measure aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring security during the protest period.

Officials believe the temporary restrictions will help prevent potential disturbances and support law enforcement efforts during the planned shutdown.

The upcoming strike is expected to affect transportation, business activities and public movement across several areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir as tensions remain high between protesters and Authorities.
