LAHORE: A delegation of National Women Journalists Forum specially participated in a ceremony held at Riaz Mansoor Trust on the occasion of World Thalassemia Day.
National Women Journalists Forum (Najaf) President Farzana Chaudhry was the chief guest of the prestigious ceremony. The Najaf delegation included Kanwal Naseem, Rabia Azmat, Nabeela Akbar, Zahida Parveen Akram, Khalida Ashfaq, Nadia Amir, Amin Amir and other members along with President Farzana Chaudhry.
President Riaz Mansoor Trust Muhammad Nafees presented a bouquet to President National Women Journalists Forum Farzana on her arrival. Regarding the treatment and other facilities for children with thalassemia, President Riaz Mansoor Trust told the delegation that blood transfusions are done for hundreds of children here, including children and adults with thalassemia from not only Punjab but also from other provinces. In addition to blood transfusion, they are given Rs. 1,000 as rent and on return.
President Riaz Mansoor Trust Hospital Muhammad Anis said that modern operation theaters of international standards have been established in the surgical tower of the hospital, where facilities for gynecological, orthopedic, general surgery, special operations and medicines for eye diseases are provided free of cost to poor patients. National Women Journalists Forum salutes you and your team. He further said that awareness campaign for the prevention of thalassemia is essential for the prevention of this disease. The government should approve the bill for blood screening test before marriage so that this serious blood disease can be prevented. The delegation, led by President Muhammad Nafees and Administrator, also visited various departments of Riaz Mansoor Trust Hospital, Thalassemia Center, Blood Transfusion Center, General Ward.
The delegation visited the children undergoing treatment in Najaf and spent some time with them and prayed for their speedy recovery. The delegation also appreciated the quality treatment facilities provided in the hospital.
