LAHORE: Consul General of Iran, Lahore, Mehran Movahedfar visited Central Police Office Lahore along with delegations and held a meeting with IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Police Liaison Officer from Iranian Embassy Col. Umeed Sarwari, Commercial Attache Ali Asghar Moghari were included in the delegation.
During the meeting, important issues of mutual interest including the security of Iranian nationals in Punjab were discussed.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisani and other officials in the helicopter crash. IG Punjab and senior police officers recited Fatiha for the repose of the souls of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisani and other officials. IG Punjab said that the martyrdom of the Iranian president is a great loss for the entire Muslim Ummah, Islamic world has lost a fearless leader. During the meeting, it was agreed to benefit from each other’s experiences regarding law enforcement.
IG Punjab and senior police officers briefed the Iranian Consul General about the technology-based reforms in the Punjab Police. Iranian Consul General said that the Iranian Police will exchange delegations for training and capacity building with Punjab Police. IG Punjab briefed the delegation about recently launched community policing programs including Human Resource, Police Station Record Management System on Central Police Dash board. At the end of the meeting, souvenirs were exchanged between IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar and Iranian Consul General. Additional IG Punjab, DIG Headquarters, CTO Lahore, SPs and senior officers were present on the spot.

Promoted: Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar chaired the departmental promotion board meeting at Central Police Office, in which IG Punjab approved the promotion of Assistant Director PHP Ghulam Mohiyuddin to the post of Deputy Director. During the meeting, the cases of 03 assistant directors were considered, according to merit and rules, Ghulam Mohiyuddin was promoted to the post of deputy director. Additional IG Punjab, Additional IG Special Branch, DIG Headquarters, DIG Establishment II, Deputy Secretary Regulation Wing and Deputy Secretary S & GAD also participated in the meeting.
Meanwhile, on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police has intensified the cracking down against electricity thieves. So far this year, 41024 cases have been registered against electricity thieves across the province including Lahore. 19709 culprits involved in electricity theft were arrested from across the province including Lahore. Spokesman of Punjab Police said that 23673 cases of electricity theft were challaned, similarly 2540 culprits who caused damage to the national treasury were punished and fined. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed to further intensify the crackdown against electricity thieves, IGP instructed that priority actions should be continued against the anti-social elements who caused damage to the national treasury.
