LAHORE, APRIL 23: Police in Lahore have claimed to have solved the shocking murder of three young siblings in the Ichhra area, revealing that the children’s mother was allegedly responsible for the crime.

According to officials, the tragic incident involved the brutal killing of five-year-old Momina Batool, four-year-old Momin Raza and one-and-a-half-year-old Amna Habiba. The case had sparked widespread outrage and grief, prompting swift action from authorities.
Senior police officials said the suspect, identified as the children’s mother, has been taken into custody following a joint operation by investigation and operations wings. The arrest came shortly after directions from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim, who had taken strict notice of the incident and ordered immediate progress.
DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza visited the crime scene and supervised the inquiry. Police stated that modern investigative techniques and coordinated efforts led to the suspect’s identification and arrest within a short span of time.
Initial findings suggest that the accused used a sharp-edged weapon to kill her children. During preliminary interrogation, the woman reportedly confessed to the crime, citing domestic disputes as the motive. Authorities, however, said further investigation is underway to verify all aspects and determine any additional factors.
Forensic teams collected crucial evidence from the scene, which is expected to strengthen the prosecution’s case. The bodies of the children were shifted to the morgue for postmortem examinations to ascertain exact causes of death.
Police officials vowed that the accused would be presented before the court with solid evidence and that justice would be ensured. “The suspect involved in this heinous crime will be brought to justice,” the DIG Investigation said.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the city, raising concerns about domestic stress and mental health issues. Citizens and social circles have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and called for stronger preventive measures to avoid such tragedies.
