MARDAN (News Desk) – A miner who had been missing following a mining accident in Mardan has been rescued alive after 16 days, in what officials are calling a remarkable survival story.

According to rescue authorities, the incident occurred on March 31 in the Rustam area, where a landslide inside a mine left nine workers dead and three others injured.
The rescued worker, identified as Abdul Wahab from Mohmand district, had been trapped inside the mine when the collapse occurred. Rescue teams continued search operations for over two weeks before successfully locating and extracting him alive.
Eyewitnesses at the scene celebrated the rescue, lifting the worker onto their shoulders and chanting religious slogans upon his recovery.
Officials confirmed that the rescued miner was immediately shifted to MMC Hospital for medical treatment following his extraction.
Authorities have also initiated an inquiry into the incident, with an eight-member committee formed under the supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner to determine the causes of the accident and assess safety measures.
