During the meeting, audit paras relating to the Health and Population Department, its attached departments, and autonomous bodies were taken up for discussion.

The Committee discussed various audit observations, including unlawful retention of funds in bank accounts; non-transparent and uneconomical award of contracts for the procurement of medicines such as injection insulin, albendazole tablets, anti-snake venom serum, calcium carbonate tablets, injection drotaverine, and injection oxytocin; irregular appointments of contingent paid staff; unauthorized appointments after cancellation of the offer of appointment; blockage of public money due to procurement without immediate requirement; and unjustified award of fueling charges to contractors.

The Committee directed the Department to ensure recovery in the remaining audit paras on a priority basis and to take all necessary steps for the earliest settlement of the outstanding audit observations in accordance with the prescribed rules and procedures.
