TEHRAN: Iran’s top security official Ali Larijani said on Saturday that US President Donald Trump is now “trapped” after ordering the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warning that Tehran will not leave him alone until it retaliates.

Speaking to Iranian state television, Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Washington had badly miscalculated the consequences of targeting Iran’s leadership and believed it could quickly destabilize the Islamic Republic.
“Trump got a taste of what happened in Venezuela and liked it, thinking he could quickly do the same in Iran. Now he’s stuck,” Larijani said.
He added that the killing of Khamenei and the deaths of more than 1,000 Iranians in the conflict had crossed a red line for Tehran and would not go unanswered.
“We will not leave him alone. He must pay the price for what he did. He killed our leader and martyred more than 1,000 of our people. This is not a simple matter,” Larijani declared.
In a separate post on social media platform X, Larijani repeated his warning and said Iran would respond in kind.
“We won’t leave him alone until reciprocating what he did,” he wrote.
Iranian officials have repeatedly vowed revenge for the attack, describing it as a direct assault on the country’s sovereignty and leadership.
