GUJRANWALA ( Web Desk) – Five members of the police force have been taken into custody in Gujranwala on allegations of assisting a suspected narcotics trafficker, in a move described by officials as part of an internal cleansing process.
The arrests were carried out on the instructions of Dr Sardar Ghiyas Gul Khan, City Police Officer (CPO) Gujranwala, after inquiries indicated that certain officials had allegedly provided support to an individual identified as Sajid alias Sajo, believed to be involved in drug smuggling.
Police sources confirmed that those arrested include Sub-Inspector Shamim Ahmed, Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Asif, and Constables Imran, Shahid Adnan and Yaseen. Formal cases under relevant narcotics laws have been registered against them.
