LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Sunday said that the ban on kite flying would remain in force after the conclusion of the three-day Basant Festival.
She made the remarks while presiding over a special video-link meeting in Lahore, where Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb presented a two-day report on the Basant Festival. The meeting was also attended by the home secretary, commissioner, health officials, representatives of the Parks and Horticulture Authority, police, and security agencies, who briefed the chief minister on arrangements and safety measures.

Expressing satisfaction over the festival’s management and security, Maryam Nawaz said the final day of the Basant celebrations was underway and kite flying would be stopped at night. She emphasized that once the three-day festival ends, the ban on kite flying will continue across the province.
The chief minister praised the cooperation of Lahore’s residents during the festival and urged citizens to follow rules and regulations on the final day as well, demonstrating responsible behavior.
She reiterated that public safety remains the government’s top priority and thanked law enforcement and administrative authorities for ensuring smooth conduct of the Basant Festival.
