LAHORE: Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) in its area of territorial and administrative jurisdiction has intensified anti-smog operations to augment the efforts of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Punjab.

It is pertinent to note that municipal acts of stubble burning, spreading across the cow dung, burning of solid waste etc have already been banned in the RUDA area. The industry in RUDA’s jurisdiction has been frequently inspected for installation of scrubbers, in last two months, many pyrolysis plants are dismantled and made dysfunctional.
The factories in Industrial area of Ravi City are made to adhere to the emission control measures. Smoke, soot and emission emitters are routinely fined and non-adherents were sealed.
RUDA is undertaking all the mitigation and correction measures to fight the menace of Smog by contributing through both active and passive measures.
It has been instructed that all vehicles carrying sand, mud, or construction material must cover their loads before travelling on roads to prevent dust from spreading in Ravi City as the move is part of a broader plan to address sources contributing to the city’s recurring smog crisis.
Moreover, heavy fines are being imposed on vehicle owners found breaching environmental laws. The provincial government has emphasized strict implementation and accountability to achieve visible improvement in air quality as these measures would not only help control pollution but also encourage long-term behavioral change among transporters and industrial operators.
The ongoing anti-smog campaign reflects RUDA’s commitment to reducing emissions, maintaining clean air, and protecting public health. With continuous monitoring and strict enforcement, RUDA authorities hope to significantly reduce the impact of vehicular and industrial pollution in Lahore before the peak smog season begins.
