LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Law, Punjab, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan paid a visit to the Home Department where he met with Special Secretary Home Fazal ur Rehman. During the meeting, the Special Secretary briefed the Law Minister in detail about departmental affairs.

He informed that the Home Department plays a key role in the preparation and implementation of any law or act. The department supervises two major committees — the Police Shuhada Committee and the Reward Money Committee — both of which will be convened by the Provincial Law Minister.

It was further stated that there are currently no pending cases related to police martyrs or reward money, and the process of providing three and five-marla houses to the families of police martyrs is actively underway. The Special Secretary also informed that the legislative business of the Punjab Assembly is conducted through the Law Department.

During the meeting, the Law Minister was also briefed on the measures regarding Safe Basant. Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan emphasized that “every possible step must be taken to ensure the safety of human lives during Basant; protecting citizens from fatal kite strings is the government’s top priority.”

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan stated that “under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government is taking concrete steps to ensure rule of law, protection of human life, and welfare of the families of police martyrs.” He further remarked that “kite flying can indeed serve as a source of tourism promotion, but it must never be allowed to endanger or cost any human life.” The meeting was also attended by Additional Secretary Police Kanwar Anwar, Deputy Secretary Law Fizza Arshad, Rana Javed Iqbal, and other relevant officers.
