LAHORE: A high-level meeting on the flood situation and ongoing rehabilitation activities in Gujranwala Division was held at the Commissioner’s Office under the chairmanship of Provincial Ministers Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Zeeshan Rafiq and Sohaib Ahmed.

Commissioner Gujranwala, Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, briefed the provincial ministers on the impact of recent rains, potential flood threats, and the ongoing relief measures. He informed that dangerous sites across the division had been identified, while residents living near water channels were being relocated to safe places. Relief camps have been made fully functional, and timely awareness is being provided to the public.
Addressing the meeting, the provincial ministers directed that all resources be utilized to ensure the protection of lives and property. They emphasized that no delay would be tolerated in rescue and relief operations during any emergency situation. They instructed the district administration to remain fully alert, particularly in low-lying areas, and to ensure prompt redressal of public grievances.
Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora underscored that all institutions must remain in close coordination to deal with the flood situation, warning that negligence in providing relief to citizens would not be tolerated. Zeeshan Rafiq stressed that administrative lapses or delays were unacceptable, while Provincial Minister Sohaib Ahmed reaffirmed that the Government of Punjab stands with its people and will not leave anyone alone in this difficult time. He further emphasized that only collective efforts could guarantee success in overcoming the flood situation.
The provincial ministers lauded the dedication of the district administration and urged for even more effective measures to provide relief to the people.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Syed Naveed Haider Shirazi, RPO Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, Deputy Commissioner Naveed Ahmed, CPO Ayaz Saleem Rana, while all Deputy Commissioners of the division joined via video link.
