LAHORE: A consensus has been reached on amendments to the National Commission for Minorities Rights Bill 2025 during a meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The amended draft has now been forwarded to the Parliament for reconsideration in its upcoming joint session, following President’s earlier message under Article 75(1) of the Constitution.
The Bill seeks to establish a statutory commission dedicated to safeguarding the rights of religious minorities. The proposed body will ensure fair representation, monitor policy implementation, and investigate violations of minority rights independently.
The commission will include representatives from all provinces and minority communities, aiming to promote inclusivity and effective oversight.
This legislation marks a significant move toward upholding constitutional guarantees and Pakistan’s international commitments to protect minority rights.
