Sania Kamran meets senior journalists, unveils PPP’s strategy to regain ground in Punjab

By Our Correspondent

LAHORE – Central leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and former Member of the Punjab Assembly, Sania Kamran, held an important meeting with senior journalists from the English media in Lahore to discuss strategies for reviving PPP’s influence in Punjab and strengthening ties between the media and the party’s central leadership.

During the session, Sania Kamran stressed the need for stronger coordination between journalists and the PPP leadership to ensure the party’s policies and vision are effectively communicated to the public. She acknowledged the media’s crucial role in shaping political narratives and reaffirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to democratic values, social justice, and public welfare.

Recognizing Punjab as a key political battleground, Kamran discussed plans for reorganization of party structures, mobilization of grassroots workers, and increased community outreach. She emphasized that the PPP’s progressive agenda—focused on healthcare, education, and economic reform—must be clearly conveyed to the people.

To improve political messaging, Kamran proposed regular interactions between journalists and PPP leadership, including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari. She also suggested establishing a dedicated media cell to streamline communication and ensure timely responses on national issues.

Praising Central Information Secretary Nadeem Afzal Chan for his proactive efforts, Kamran said, “A robust media liaison is vital for projecting PPP’s progressive agenda, and Nadeem Afzal Chan’s approach is ensuring stronger coordination between journalists and our leadership.”

The former MPA also provided a detailed analysis of the country’s current political and economic situation, criticizing inflation, poor governance, and economic mismanagement under the present setup. She stated that PPP stands ready to play a constructive and stabilizing role while holding the government accountable.

Looking ahead, Kamran shared PPP’s vision for the upcoming political landscape, underscoring the need for unity among democratic forces. While hinting at potential alliances, she made it clear that PPP would not compromise on its core principles. She reiterated the party’s commitment to youth engagement and resolving local issues to rebuild its support base in Punjab.

Journalists appreciated the initiative and offered valuable suggestions, including more frequent press briefings, greater access to central leadership, and a stronger social media presence to counter opposition narratives.

Sania Kamran assured participants that their feedback would be taken seriously, emphasizing that PPP deeply values the media’s role in a vibrant democracy. She expressed optimism about PPP’s political resurgence in Punjab and pledged to continue such engagements in the future.

The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to enhance collaboration between PPP and the media, paving the way for a more dynamic and impactful political campaign in the province.
