Delegation Visited High-Value Agriculture Model Farms in Egypt
Experience of High-Value Agriculture in Egyptian Deserts is Worth Emulating – Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani

LAHORE: A high-level delegation of Agriculture Department led by Minister for Agriculture & Livestock Punjab Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, visited Egypt. The delegation included Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Usama Khan Leghari, Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, and other senior officials.

During the visit, the delegation visited high-value agriculture model farms in Egypt. They observed model farms of citrus fruits, dates, peaches, grapes, olives, and mangoes, and conducted a detailed visit to model farms of sweet potatoes and other crops. The delegation also visited state-of-the-art fruit and vegetable packhouses.
On the occasion, Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani stated that Egypt’s experience of practicing high-value agriculture in desert areas is commendable and worth replicating. He further emphasized that the Agriculture Department Punjab will take practical steps to establish similar agricultural models. Models of irrigation systems implemented in Egyptian deserts will be introduced in the Thal and Cholistan regions of Punjab.
Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Usama Khan Leghari suggested providing facilities to farmers for setting up such model farms. Secretary Agriculture Punjab Iftikhar Ali Sahoo reaffirmed his commitment to promoting mechanized and high-value agriculture in Punjab on the lines of Egyptian models.
The members of the delegation gained valuable insights into modern agricultural practices during their visit to Egypt.
