LAHORE: Secretary Auqaf and Chief Administrator Dr. Ehsan Bhutta has directed that all ongoing development, maintenance, and upgradation work at the historic Badshahi Mosque be completed soon after Eid to enhance facilities for worshippers and visitors.

During a detailed visit, he reviewed progress on multiple initiatives, including improvements to the mosque’s library, installation of new shoe racks, preservation of chambers, and safety grills around the Tabarrukat Gallery. Officials informed him that the gallery is expected to be relocated in the first week of April as part of the broader enhancement plan.
Dr. Bhutta emphasised the mosque’s immense religious, historical, and cultural significance, directing that all work must preserve its original architecture and heritage value. He also stressed improved cleanliness, crowd management, and smooth entry and exit arrangements, particularly in view of large Eid gatherings.
Officials briefed him on ongoing work related to electrical systems, illumination, painting, and furniture, noting that efforts are being expedited to meet deadlines.
He further instructed that all remaining work be completed on a priority basis, warning that delays or negligence would not be tolerated. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing improved facilities at religious sites across Punjab.
