LAHORE – Two police personnel have been arrested for their alleged involvement in stealing iron from the PECO factory, with authorities vowing strict action against officers found abusing their powers.
According to a spokesperson for the DIG Operations Lahore, the two suspects were posted at Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Area Police Station and were found allegedly involved in the theft.
Police said 60 kilogrammes of stolen iron belonging to the PECO factory was recovered from the accused personnel.
A case, FIR No. 828/26, has been registered against the two policemen on allegations of theft and misuse of official authority.
Following their arrest, the accused officers were handed over to the investigation wing for further legal proceedings.
The action against serving police personnel comes as senior officials seek to reinforce internal accountability and prevent misuse of authority within the force.
The DIG Operations said violations of the law by members of the police department would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He stressed that police officers are entrusted with protecting citizens and enforcing the law, and those who themselves engage in unlawful activities would face stringent action.
The DIG Operations added that law enforcers who breach the law would be dealt with even more strictly because of the responsibility attached to their positions.
Further investigation into the alleged theft is under way.
