TAXILA: Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, attended the grand final of the Basketball Legacy Trophy 2025 in Taxila as the chief guest. The event was jointly organized by the Peace Ambassador Society and Christian Hospital.
In the thrilling final between Lahore and Islamabad, Lahore’s team showcased an outstanding performance, defeating Islamabad by 94 points to 74 and lifting the championship trophy. A total of six teams from different cities of Pakistan participated in the tournament, reflecting the growing interest in basketball across the country.
The final was also attended by Punjab Assembly Members Mohsin Ayub Khan and Imran Ilyas, along with Chairman of the Presbyterian Medical Board of Pakistan, Majeed Abel, who arranged the tournament.
While presenting the trophy and prizes to the winning team, Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, multiple initiatives for the welfare of minorities are underway. At the provincial level, renovation and restoration of minority worship places are in progress, while sports activities are being promoted to provide healthy opportunities for the youth.
“A healthy Punjab guarantees true progress. Reviving sports grounds is essential to counter intolerance and negative trends in society. Although urban expansion and population growth have limited sporting opportunities, we must collectively work to bring life back to our playing fields,” he stressed.
Chairman of the Presbyterian Medical Board of Pakistan, Majeed Abel, also shared his views, saying that organizing this basketball tournament in Taxila is proof that sports are the best means to promote peace, harmony, and community well-being.
The event was attended by a large number of spectators, local leaders, and social figures, who praised the winning team and emphasized that such sporting activities are vital for social harmony and the positive development of youth.
